It has been known for decades that baby teeth are a rich source of stem cells, and our project partner Provia’s dental stem cell storage system Store-A-Tooth was developed several years ago to enable the storage of dental stem cells. All those involved in the development of Store-A-Tooth were aware that the product was well ahead of the curve, but the good news is that mainstream knowledge is quickly catching up with what Provia knew a long time ago.
A recent article on steemit.com highlights the potential future use of dental stem cells in regenerative medicine, and how parents are now using Store-A-Tooth to store their children’s babyteeth so that “later in life (if) a child needs replacement tissue for whatever reason, the stem cells from their baby teeth can be used to grow the needed tissue”.
