Support grows for patient access to electronic health records

There is a growing groundswell of support for the complete access of their electronic health records to patients, according to a recent in article on NBC12 news.
The Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH), who are composed of public and private sector purchasers of health care, has publicly stated that it is in favour of proposed federal measures to allow greater access of EHR’s to patients.
This also follows an announcement from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) concerning a new application interface which gives access to four years of Medicare patient data – Blue Button 2.0. This recent upgrade of the original Blue Button application lets Medicare patients opt-in to share their patient data across a range of other approved applications that track medical various medical and health-related activities.
“PWeR’s Patient Portal is a key feature in the Cloud based EMR Platform of Quantum” says Scott Wolf, CEO of Grace Century. He adds this feature was seen as a no-brainer by Quantum’s CEO and visionary, Noel Guillama.
