Patients with chronic heart failure are to receive pioneering stem cell treatment in a new trial which could herald a cure for the biggest killer ?in the industrialised world?. Those taking part in the trial will get a single injection of 150 million adult stem cells into the heart. It could offer new hope for ?end-stage? patients with the most severe form of heart failure who rely on external machines to pump blood around the body to stay alive. Heart failure happens when the organ is unable to pump blood adequately.
